Does Camp Midway have discounts available for campers?

Yes, Camp Midway offers a 10% discount package for campers in the following category:
  • 10% discount for Midway College Employees
  • 10% discount for University of Kentucky Employees
  • 10% discount on Second Child Registration
  • 10% discount on Second Camp Registration
    • (Only one discount is allowed per camp)

What if my child is sick or is unable to attend camp for another reason?

If a child is sick, misses a day or is unable to attend for the remainder of the camp, please notify the Assistant Director of Residence Life at (859) 846-5365. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer a refunds for missed days. Camp Midway will not issue refunds for a child dismissed from program because of unacceptable behavior.

If I have questions or if I need to get a message to camp staff or my child, who should I call?

Parents should call the Assistant Director of Residence Life at (859) 846-5365 to contact staff or their child for any concerns or emergencies.

What does Camp Midway Tuition Cover?

The Camp Tuition covers lunch, snacks, supplies for activities, t-shirt, certificate, and pictures for Equine, Girl Power, Theatre, Science, Art, and Writing. The Athletic Camps cover a t-shirt and picture.

Who will my child be spending the day with?

Campers will spend the day with the Program Director (professional in area of camp program) and Camp Counselors (Midway University Students). On average at least 1-3 Camp Counselors attend to the needs of the campers and 1 Program Director facilitates the program. Listed below is the structure of camp staffing.

Staffing:

  • Equine Camp
    • (1 Program Director and 3 Camp Counselors)
  • Girl Power, Theatre, Science
    • (1 Program Director and 2 Camp Counselors)
  • Art and Write-On Camp
    • (1 Program Director and 1 Camp Counselors)

However, Athletics Camp will have coaches and team members to facilitate summer camp clinics to assist campers with skills and techniques for specific sport interest.

What do campers need to bring with them to camp each day?

Equine Camps - Horse and tack are provided, but campers are expected to have appropriate dress for riding. Hard soled shoes, boots with heels 1 inch or less are preferred. No flip flops or, sandals or open toed shoes. Long pants are required for riding. Campers may bring shorts to change into for other activities if desired. Sunscreen is recommended. We suggest that campers arrive each day with sunscreen and already applied and have extra with them to apply throughout the day. Lotion not aerosol sprays are suggested. If a camper brings sunscreen to camp, a permission form must be completed by a parent before it can be applied.  No dangling jewelry (necklaces, chains, hoop earrings) will be permitted when handling and riding horses, so please leave it at home! Riding helmets will be available and are required while mounted. Hats are recommended as activities will take place both outdoors and indoors. 

Academic Camps – Each camper should wear comfortable clothing that is appropriate for both indoor and outdoor activities. Tennis shoes are required. No open toe sandals or flip flops are allowed. Campers should bring a water bottle with their name on it. We suggest that campers arrive each day with sunscreen already applied and have extra with them to apply throughout the day. Lotion not aerosol sprays are suggested. If a camper brings sunscreen to camp, a permission form must be completed by a parent before it can be applied. 

Sport Camps – Sport Camp participants should wear clothing that is comfortable and appropriate for the sport that will be played and for the weather. All participants should bring a water bottle with their name on it. Water for refills will be provided. 

Archery Skills Clinics will take place in the gymnasium, so participants should wear tennis shoes with non-marking soles.  Archery clinic participants must bring their own bow.  All Archery participants should bring a water bottle with their name on it. Water for refills will be provided. 

Basketball Camp participants should wear tennis shoes with non-marking soles.  All Basketball participants should bring a water bottle with their name on it. Water for refills will be provided. 

Soccer Camp participants should wear cleats and bring a soccer ball.  Shin guards are optional, but recommended.  Soccer clinic participants are encouraged to arrive each day with sunscreen already applied and have extra with them to apply throughout the day. Lotion not aerosol sprays are suggested. If a camper brings sunscreen to camp, a permission form must be completed by a parent before it can be applied. All Soccer participants should bring a water bottle with their name on it. Water for refills will be provided.  

Softball Camp participants should wear cleats and bring their own bats. Softball participants are encouraged to arrive each day with sunscreen already applied and have extra with them to apply throughout the day. Lotion not aerosol sprays are suggested. If a camper brings sunscreen to camp, a permission form must be completed by a parent before it can be applied. All Softball participants should bring a water bottle with their name on it. Water for refills will be provided.  

Volleyball Camp will take place in the gymnasium, so participants should wear tennis shoes with non-marking soles. All Volleyball participants should bring a water bottle with their name on it. Water for refills will be provided.

Is there a discount for multiple registrations or for siblings?

Yes. After one camp registration at full price, a discount of 10 percent will be applied to each additional camp session for children within the same household. Midway University and UK employees also receive 10% off the first camp registration.

Is there an additional cost for the early drop-off and late pick-up?

Camps run from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm daily. Early drop off beginning at 7:00 am and late pick up until 6:00 pm is available at an additional cost. If paid before the first day of camp, early drop-off and late pick-up for the full week is $45. If not paid in advance, the fee for the week is $50. Also, Parents can pay $25 for early drop-off and $25 for late pick-up if you need only one service.  There is no early drop-off or late pick-up for sports camps.

My child is taking medicine, can camp staff give this to them during camp hours?

Yes, but please note the following information. A Permission to Administer Medication form must be completed before any medications will be given.  All medications to be administered must be supplied by the parent. Medications with expired labels will not be administered.  Prescription medications must have valid prescription labels. Over the counter medications must be in their original containers. Permission to Administer Medication forms may only be filled out for one week at a time. It is the parent’s responsibility to fill out a new form each week.We WILL NOT administer any medication without written consent. This includes over the counter medications and sunscreen.

What if my child has allergies?

Parent should list any allergies their children have on the registration and health forms. If there are serious allergies that require extra care we ask that you consult with the Program Director or Coach prior to completing your registration to insure that we can accommodate any special requests.
